Student Team Wins Top Prize for Affordable Housing Design

Two students in Wentworth Institute of Technology Professor Ann Borst’s Affordable Housing architecture class took first prize in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston’s 24th annual Affordable Housing Development Competition.

Wentworth Student Taking Part in NASA Europa Program

NASA has selected Wentworth Institute of Technology student Hamza Ouriour as one of 40 nationwide undergraduates to take part in the first year of its Europa ICONS (Inspiring Clipper: Opportunities for Next-generation Scientists) internship program, supporting the agency’s Europa Clipper mission.  

Europa ICONS matches students with mentors from the mission’s science team for a 10-week program to conduct original scientific research on topics related to the mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa.

Student Wins Largest Cash Prize at Multi-Collegiate Startup Pitch Event

Jessica Woyton ‘24, a Biomedical Engineering student entrepreneur from Wentworth Institute of Technology, emerged as the standout winner at the inaugural Pitch-a-thon, a startup competition launched by Northeastern University where top entrepreneurial students representing 11 esteemed colleges and universities pitched their businesses in three minutes or less. 

 

Gard Honored by American Institute of Architects

George Gard, a professor in Wentworth Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture and Design, has been honored with a Young Architects award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). 

The publication described Gard as “an architect who brings a future-oriented design to existing buildings and urban spaces” who “champions reuse as a vital component of the built environment and the profession.” 

Gautier Castro Underscores Resilience, Following Passion to Spring Graduates

As a Class of 2016 Wentworth Institute of Technology graduate, Carla Gautier Castro felt she may be too young to deliver a commencement keynote speech.  

“I always thought this podium was reserved for people with decades of life experience, sage advice for you kids, and—let's be honest—white hair,” she said as the featured speaker for the university’s Spring 2024 ceremony.

For the third straight season, the top-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team (30-1) captured the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship title, downing the third-seeded Rivier Raiders (19-14) in straight sets Saturday afternoon.
