Holds, Late Payments, Registration, and Housing Eligibility

Updates for holds, balances, and changes in your E-Bill are sent to student’s Wentworth email and sometimes by text message.  Students are highly encouraged to add an authorized payer, like a parent, guardian, or sponsor, to their E-Bill portal so they can also receive updates and help manage payments.

Billing and Balance Resolution Timeline

The following requirements and restrictions are in place to ensure students are making clear and sustainable financial decisions and are best positioned for a successful academic career with limited risk of long-term financial burdens. Students with questions or concerns regarding their aid eligibility and payment options are always encouraged to contact Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Individual appointments can be made via EAB Navigate or by contacting the offices.

Registration and Housing Eligibility

Balances incurred during the semester due to failed or bounced payments, undisbursed financial aid (including loans), or new expenses will result in the application of account holds preventing registration for future semesters.  Students must have a $0.00 balance to apply for, be placed in, and remain in on-campus housing.

To apply for or stay in campus housing, a student’s E-Bill must show a $0.00 balance.  Residential students with an unpaid balance for the current semester as of the first day of registration for the subsequent semester will be removed from next semester's housing assignment and, will not be allowed to reapply for housing until their E-Bill balance is paid in full. Students removed from housing for unpaid balances can reapply, but placements and specific assignment requests are not guaranteed. All students must have a $0 balance to move into campus housing at the start of the semester.

Future Semester Billing, Payment, and Enrollment Requirements

If a student’s bill is not resolved by the end of the day of the due date for a future semester, a $250.00 late payment fee will be added to their E-Bill. These fees are eligible for forgiveness by appealing if the balance is settled within fourteen (14) calendar days following the original bill due date.  The Late Payment Fee Appeal Form is available here.

Students with a balance remaining after final exams will have a Bursar Hold placed on their account. This hold suspends access to all Wentworth systems, learning platforms, and buildings except for the student’s wit.edu email and E-Bill until the E-Bill reflects a $0.00 balance.

All balances should be resolved before the first day of classes to ensure access to course schedules, class materials, and university facilities. Students with unresolved balances by the end of the add/drop period (published in the academic calendar) will be administratively withdrawn from the university in accordance with the university’s withdrawal policy.
