Mayor Wu Applauds Wentworth's STRIVE Program for Boston Youth
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu visited Wentworth Institute of Technology's campus on Thursday, meeting with some of the city’s most industrious youth.
For 35 years, Wentworth has partnered with Boston Public Schools on STRIVE, a program providing vocational training and life skills to youth with unique learning and physical needs as they transition from high school to post-secondary life.
Professor Racelis Recognized for Excellence at First-Year Engineering Experience Conference
In a testament to his innovative teaching approach, Professor Juval Racelis of Wentworth Institute of Technology has been awarded the "2nd Best Paper Award" at the First-Year Engineering Experience Conference.
The recognition highlights Racelis' impactful contributions to enhancing the educational journey of first-year engineering students.
Introducing the Renamed "Conference of New England"
The Commonwealth Coast Conference has officially been renamed the Conference of New England (CNE), transitioning the conference and its membership to a modernized brand to mark its 40th season.
Wentworth Institute of Technology is a founding member of the CCC and its teams have competed in the conference since 1984.

Celebrating Student Success: School of Management Honor Society Inductees and Competition Winners
Wentworth Institute of Technology’s School of Management held an induction ceremony and celebration for top performing students involved with the Business Management and Computer Information Systems Programs. The event brought together faculty members, students, and program leaders for an afternoon of recognition on July 17, in honor of student success.

Exploring the World: A Humanities Journey to Cyprus
Last year, Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Humanities Department embarked on an unforgettable journey to Cyprus, immersing students in the rich tapestry of ancient history, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes.
Led by Professor Jody Gordon, the trip was a part of a summer program offering Wentworth students a chance to learn more about the history of the area, modern culture, and its future as an entrepreneurial hub. After learning more about Cyprus, students then physically traveled there for a week to explore firsthand.

Wentworth Faculty Honored by Society of Civil Engineers at 175th Event
Two Wentworth Institute of Technology faculty members will be honored by the Boston Society of Civil Engineers next week when they host their 175th anniversary awards dinner.
Professor Gautham Das will receive the 2024 College Educator Award, which is presented to a member of the academic community who inspires and encourages civil engineering students through exceptional teaching and mentorship in the New England area.

Inaugural Cohort Wraps Leadership in the Built Environment Academy
On June 7 Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Workforce Development and Professional Education concluded the first cohort of the Leadership in the Built Environment (LBE) Academy program, celebrating the achievements of 19 dynamic participants from various sectors of the industry.
This six-week professional development program aimed to enhance leadership skills, foster an entrepreneurial mindset, optimize individual strengths, and drive strategic value for women and allies in construction, architecture, facilities management, real estate, engineering, and infrastructure.
Boston Transit Leader Patrice Recognized for Transformative Work
Wentworth Institute of Technology alumna Desiree Patrice was recently honored with the 2024 Women Making Transportation History Award from COMTO Boston (Conference of Minority Transportation Officials). She is the chief of Integrated Transit Programs.
Desiree was recognized for "her enduring dedication to public service and exceptional leadership and impact in the Capital Transformation of transit programs. These efforts have improved transportation in Boston while ensuring all are valued, respected, and part of an equitable and inclusive community."
Joe Dacey Named Wentworth’s New Enrollment VP
After a nationwide search, Wentworth Institute of Technology has named Joseph Dacey, EdD, as its new Vice President of Enrollment Management.
Aiming to build upon Wentworth’s positive momentum to create an even more vibrant future, Dacey will bring nearly 20 years of successful enrollment leadership experience to the position.
Alum Named to Huntsville Business Journal ‘40 Under 40’ List
Kenita Simmons, Electromechanical Engineering ’09, was named to the Huntsville Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” list.
Simmons is a portfolio director at BAE Systems, where she has worked for the last 16 years, including her time as a co-op student.
Simmons was a member of National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE) while enrolled at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
