Proration Policy
Understanding Tuition Proration
Wentworth adjusts tuition charges if a student withdraws during a semester or term. The amount credited/refunded depends on when the student officially withdraws. See the schedules below for details.
How to Withdraw
If you decide to leave Wentworth, you must fill out a Voluntary Withdrawal Form on MyWentworth.
If you live on campus, you also need to submit a housing cancellation form through the myHousing portal.
Important: Not attending class does not mean you are withdrawn. If you register for classes but do not attend, you are still responsible for all tuition costs.
Tuition and fees will not be adjusted on the student’s EBill until the Registrar’s Office receives an official Voluntary Withdrawal Form from the student. We encourage monitoring the activity on your EBill.
Tuition insurance is available through Grad Guard. Enrollment will be offered through the EBill portal. Enrollment must be completed prior to the first day of each semester. Please visit the Tuition Insurance webpage for more information.

Fees That Are Not Refundable
These fees will not be refunded if you withdraw:
Books and supplies (considered used when purchased).
Equipment costs (if not returned in good condition).
Enrollment fees.
Library fines.
Late fees.
Study Abroad Deposits.
Students on Involuntary Leave, Suspension or Dismissal
If Wentworth requires you to leave (suspension, dismissal, or involuntary leave), tuition is not refunded. Only meal plans may be refunded based on your last day of enrollment.
Questions about tuition prorations can be directed to the Student Accounts Office at studentaccounts@wit.edu.
Housing & Meal Plan Refunds
All students living on campus must sign a housing agreement, which outlines additional terms and is a legal contract. Students cancelling their housing may have to pay a housing agreement release fee and may lose their housing down payment, as outlined in the housing agreement.
A residential student who withdraws from Wentworth before or during the first four weeks of the semester will be eligible for a reduction of charges per their housing agreement. Residential students are fully responsible for any balance incurred until a housing cancellation form is submitted and approved, regardless of whether they have moved in or not. No adjustments will be made after the fourth week of the semester.
The Office of Housing & Residential Education sets the final prorated amounts for room and meal plans.
Leaving or Withdrawing Impacts Financial Aid
Students who are considering withdrawing (either from the university or individual classes) should seriously consider the financial consequences. Students earn aid based on the number of days of courses they have participated in. Depending on the time of withdrawal some forms of aid may need to be returned, and balances may be owed to the University, the Federal Government, state agencies, outside agencies, loan providers, and other individual grantors of scholarships and awards.
Students are urged to meet with a financial aid counselor to discuss the monetary impact of withdrawal and their eligibility for aid in the current and future semesters. Visit the Financial Aid Withdrawal page for more detailed information. Students can schedule a meeting with the Financial Aid Office in EAB Navigate on myWentworth or by emailing finaid@wit.edu
Currently Serving Military Members
Students who are members of the United States Armed Forces who are called to active duty should review the Withdrawal for Military Connected Services policy. A refund of tuition, fees, and applicable payments will be made according to Public Law 117-328 Veterans Affairs Update and any required returns to agencies such as Veterans Affairs will be made according to federal regulations. Financial aid awards are subject to the same laws and regulations for all students, regardless of active military service, section 6.f.
