What to Expect on Commencement Day

Congratulations, Graduates! You made it. The big day you’ve worked so hard for is finally here. Below is everything you need to know to feel confident, prepared, and ready to celebrate.
Commencement Location
MGM Music Hall at Fenway
2 Lansdowne Street, Boston
About a 15–20 minute walk from campus
Transportation & Arrival at the Venue
Wentworth strongly recommends using public transportation or rideshare services to get to the venue. No shuttles will be provided to the site and there is very limited parking near MGM Music Hall.

Public Transportation Options
Green Line (MBTA)
- Take a "B," "C," or "D" Green Line train to Kenmore Station.
- ~9-minute walk to MGM.
MBTA Commuter Rail
- Take the Framingham/Worcester Line to Yawkey Station.
- Easy walking distance to MGM.
MBTA Bus Service
- The #55 Bus runs regular service between Back Bay and Fenway/Kenmore.
- Request stop at Ipswich @ Lansdowne (right across from MGM!).

Parking Options
FREE Wentworth Parking (First Come, First Served)
Available on Commencement Day only until lots are full. The options include the following:
- Halleck Street Garage with several EV Charging Stations
- Halleck Lot
- Mindoro Lot
- East Lot
- NO PARKING AVAILABLE IN THE WEST OR NORTH LOT DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ON CAMPUS; NO PARKING IN THE ANNEX LOT - RESERVED FOR FACULTY AND STAFF ONLY - WENTWORTH IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND FACULTY AND STAFF WORKING AT COMMENCEMENT WILL PARK HERE

- Accessible parking is very limited in the Fenway area near the venue.
- We recommend dropping off guests directly at MGM for those who need assistance.

Morning Ceremony - Schools of Architecture & Design, Computing & Data Science, Management & Sciences and Humanities
- 9:00 AM - Check-In at House of Blues
- 9:45 AM - Line up by major with faculty
- 10:10 AM - Procession: Staff will lead you across Lansdowne Street to MGM
- 10:30 AM - Ceremony begins!
- 12:30 PM - Photos and Farewell Reception - Wentworth Quad
Afternoon Ceremony - School of Engineering
- 1:00 PM - Check-In at House of Blues
- 1:45 PM - Line up by major with faculty
- 2:10 PM - Procession: Staff will lead you across Lansdowne Street to MGM
- 2:30 PM - Ceremony begins!
- 4:30 PM - Photos and Farewell Reception - Wentworth Quad
Please be alert—this is a busy workday street. Follow police directions and watch for traffic.

What to Bring
- Cap, Gown, Hood & Tassel
- Phone with QR Code saved to your wallet (check your WIT email!)
- Wentworth ID or driver’s license
- Honors & Veteran Cords will be distributed at check‑in
- MGM's Bag Policy -
- Bags up to 12” x 6” x 12” are allowed in the venue
- All bags will be searched prior to entry
- Bags that are not clear will be subject to additional search

What Not to Bring
To help keep everything moving smoothly (and stress free!), please note the following venue restrictions:
- No bags or backpacks are permitted at House of Blues.
- Do not bring items you can’t carry with you.
- Note: There is no storage available at House of Blues or MGM.
- Do not leave belongings behind.
- Note: Lost items cannot be retrieved.
- No outside food or beverages. Water stations will be provided inside the venue.
Tip: Bring only the essentials – cap, gown, phone, and ID – to make your day easy and enjoyable!

- Mailed 4-6 weeks after official graduation date
- Sent via Parchment to the address in your graduation application

- Order PDF or paper transcripts through Parchment
- Select “Hold for Degree”
- Ready ~5 weeks after grades post
Information for Friends & Family
Commencement is a ticketed event. Remember to check your ticket access ahead of time. Tickets can be printed or accessed from your phone. Tickets will be scanned at MGM entrance by MGM staff.
Morning Ceremony:
Doors open at 9:15 AM and guests can begin to find their seats at this time.
Want to see your graduate walk the red carpet? Arrive as early as you can and find your seats - this is a can't miss moment! Doors Temporarily Close for the student processional at 10:10 AM. Guests will have to wait to enter until all students and the platform party have entered the main hall and then doors will reopen.
Afternoon Ceremony:

Concessions are available for purchase at MGM prior to the ceremony and their will be gift vendors on site. You can also find food and gifts on campus at:

- Leopard Café (Beatty Hall, 2nd Floor)
- Campus Bookstore (Open until 5:00 PM)

After the Ceremony (Weather Permitting):
- Meet family, friends & faculty on the Quad.

No alcohol is available for sale at this event.
MGM is a smoke-free facility. No e-cigarettes, vapes or any other smoking device are permitted.
See MGM's website for all applicable venue policies. We ask that all guests attending commencement abide by MGM's policies to ensure a successful and celebratory occasion for all students and their guests. Those found in violation of venue policies will be asked to leave the premises.
If you return to campus for the Photos and Farewell Reception please remember that Wentworth is an alcohol and smoke free campus. Light refreshments including cookies and soft drinks will be available.
