Alum Peter Kraut Named Mayor in California
Wentworth Institute of Technology alumnus Peter Kraut is the new mayor of Calabasas, California.
Kraut was officially sworn in last night during a meeting of the Calabasas City Council. The Council is composed of five members elected at large on a non-partisan basis to serve four year overlapping terms.

Boston Transit Leader Patrice Recognized for Transformative Work
Wentworth Institute of Technology alumna Desiree Patrice was recently honored with the 2024 Women Making Transportation History Award from COMTO Boston (Conference of Minority Transportation Officials). She is the chief of Integrated Transit Programs.
Desiree was recognized for "her enduring dedication to public service and exceptional leadership and impact in the Capital Transformation of transit programs. These efforts have improved transportation in Boston while ensuring all are valued, respected, and part of an equitable and inclusive community."
Alum Named to Huntsville Business Journal ‘40 Under 40’ List
Kenita Simmons, Electromechanical Engineering ’09, was named to the Huntsville Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” list.
Simmons is a portfolio director at BAE Systems, where she has worked for the last 16 years, including her time as a co-op student.
Simmons was a member of National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE) while enrolled at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Wentworth Student Taking Part in NASA Europa Program
NASA has selected Wentworth Institute of Technology student Hamza Ouriour as one of 40 nationwide undergraduates to take part in the first year of its Europa ICONS (Inspiring Clipper: Opportunities for Next-generation Scientists) internship program, supporting the agency’s Europa Clipper mission.
Europa ICONS matches students with mentors from the mission’s science team for a 10-week program to conduct original scientific research on topics related to the mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa.

Wentworth Student Engineering Chapter Recognized as Top 21 Internationally
The IEEE-HKN Board of Governors has conferred upon the Mu Mu Chapter of Wentworth Institute of Technology the 2022-2023 IEEE-HKN Outstanding Chapter Award. This prestigious honor is presented to chapters in recognition of excellence in their administration and programs.

Students in Wentworth's School of Engineering worked with Teradyne, an automatic test equipment designer and manufacturer, to help address an issue the company was having with downtime on a test procedure.
Students and faculty worked with Teradyne for eight months to identify the problem, create a proposal within the first month, and then go through the design process as part of their Capstone Design Projects.
