How to Apply

  All application deadlines are non-binding, non-restrictive. Wentworth encourages you to apply when you feel ready to hit submit and all rounds are reviewed in the same way, there is simply a difference in timing for you as the applicant.

• Official Transcripts

  An official high school transcript or G.E.D. scores. Please note that transcripts are considered official only if sent directly from your high school.

• Recommendation Letters

  Letters of recommendation at Wentworth are optional.  If applicants would like to submit a letter of recommendation, we will accept up to two recommendations from guidance counselors, teachers, employers, or coaches. Email letters of recommendation to admissions@wit.edu.

• Extracurricular Activities

  How you spend your time above and beyond academics is important to us! Be sure to include your participation in community service activities, athletic teams, employment and involvement in clubs and organizations, as well as any family commitments you may have.   

• Prerequisites

  You must complete a mathematics course of study through the Algebra II level, at least one laboratory science course (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), and four years of English. 

  Pre-Calculus is not a requirement for admission.  However, students applying for Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), Applied Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, any Engineering program or Physics without pre-calculus, may have to take one summer course to complete their math sequence. 

• Submitting Additional Documents

  Support materials from schools should be uploaded through the appropriate channels. Wentworth will be sure to match the documents to your application upon receipt. Any additional materials can be emailed to admissions@wit.edu.

• Test Optional (SAT/ACT) Information

  Wentworth adopted a test-optional admissions policy in 2019 as part of its institutional commitment to inclusive excellence. We encourage students of all backgrounds to pursue their passions, especially in the science and engineering fields where women, students of color and first generation students have been historically underrepresented.  Below are some frequently asked questions to address questions you may have. If you do not see your questions addressed here, please feel free to contact us at admissions@wit.edu or 617-989-4000. 

  All applicants are eligible for test optional admissions, with the exception of home-schooled applicants and applicants attending a high school that employs a narrative assessment of course performance and does not provide grades on a 4.0 scale.

  International students are not required to submit SAT/ACT scores but must show proof of English proficiency. Please see the English Proficiency Requirements.

  If you feel that your SAT/ACT scores will strengthen your application, then you should submit the scores. If you feel that the SAT/ACT scores are not a reflection of your academic ability and would prefer the admissions committee review your admissions file based on your high school performance, extracurricular activities, and personal qualities as evidenced in your essay and letter of recommendation then you may decide not to submit the scores.

  Regardless of submitting test scores, all accepted students are considered for merit scholarships based on overall academic performance. 

  Please note that students who do decide to submit test scores must submit those scores officially.  That means your scores need to come to us directly from the SAT/ACT or be submitted to us by your school.   If test scores have not arrived to Wentworth by the application decision deadline, we will review the application without the scores.

  • Homeschool applicants
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
  • Military-Connected Community members
  • Interior Design, Industrial Design, or Architecture applicants: Wentworth does not require incoming first-year applicants to submit a portfolio. However, transfer applicants who wish to be evaluated for possible transfer credit in design or drawing courses must submit a portfolio.

• Schoolhouse Portfolio (optional)

  You are welcome to submit a Schoolhouse portfolio as an optional supplement to your application. You can send a PDF copy of your Schoolhouse Portfolio to admissions@wit.edu with the subject line, "Schoolhouse.world Portfolio". 

• After You Apply

  Wentworth starts receiving applications from the Common Application in late August. You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours once we have received an application from Common App. To ensure you are receiving emails from Wentworth Admissions, it is recommended that you add admissions@wit.edu as a safe sender.

  Your confirmation email will include a link to your admissions portal, your one-stop shop for important information, updates, and any resources you need including:

  • Tracking the status of your application
  • Viewing your admissions decision when it is released
  • Accessing scholarships and financial aid

  Note, your admissions portal uses the email address that you provided on your application. If you need to update your email address please send an email to admissions@wit.edu to provide the updated email address. If sending the email from your new account please include the email you used on your application and your date of birth in the email message.  

  Forgot your admissions portal password?

  1. Navigate to your admissions portal
  2. Click the "Forgot Your Password?" option.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your email address and your date of birth to reset your password.
