Ahead of Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Summer Commencement ceremonies Thursday, we are highlighting the students speaking, singing, and being honored, and they share what they would tell first-year students arriving in September.

Global cargo rarely moves on schedule. During the recent Global Freight Frenzy, an intensive hackathon hosted in the Accelerate Makerspace, Wentworth Institute of Technology students built software to keep freight moving anyway.

They are the builders, the thinkers, and the problem-solvers. Top-performing students at Wentworth Institute of Technology were recognized for their academic excellence with an induction into Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the premier international honor society for computing and information disciplines. 

Wentworth Under 30: They are entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders—and they are just getting started. In this new ongoing series, we highlight exceptional alumni under the age of 30 who are redefining what is possible in their fields. Representing every school at the university, these graduates prove that age is no barrier to making a global impact.

As the new dean of the School of Computing and Data Science, I want to share with you the school’s highlights from the 2024-25 academic year. 

Promotions:  

One of his earliest memories includes playing video games with his two older brothers.  

Now, Wentworth Institute of Technology graduate Michael Berthaud works as a game designer and programmer for Warner Bros.                               

The faculty in the School of Computing & Data Science have achieved significant milestones in research, teaching, and professional engagement throughout the past year. 

As the fiscal year draws to a close this June, it provides a timely opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our dedicated faculty. Across Wentworth's five academic schools, our educators and researchers have consistently advanced their fields through influential scholarship, innovative teaching, and dedicated service.  

Wentworth Institute of Technology has earned the prestigious title of a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE), a designation awarded by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 

Wentworth Institute of Technology is taking innovative steps to make STEM majors more accessible by introducing a new foundational math course, as recently reported by Inside Higher Ed. 

Wentworth’s School of Computing and Data Science is hosting Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Shawren Singh, PhD for the 2024-2025 academic year. An accomplished teacher and researcher, Singh is the chair of Information Systems in the School of Computing at the University of South Africa (Unisa), Johannesburg. His work with Wentworth students and faculty will help enhance internationalization efforts on our campus.
