Acclaimed Architects to Kick Off Lecture Series

Takaharu and Yui Tezuka are the founders of Tezuka Architects, established in Tokyo in 1994. Their work is celebrated for creating open, human-centered spaces that foster community, joy, and connection to nature.

The School of Architecture and Design has announced the launch of its Fall Lecture Series, “Design Agency,” kicking off with a presentation by the visionary minds behind the world-renowned Fuji Kindergarten. 

This series brings global innovators directly to the Wentworth community, and the inaugural 2025 lecture will take place next Tuesday, September 9, at 5:00 PM in the CEIS Lobby.

Meet the First Speakers: Takaharu and Yui Tezuka 

Kicking off the series are Takaharu and Yui Tezuka, founders of the Tokyo-based firm Tezuka Architects. Since establishing their practice in 1994, their work has been celebrated internationally for creating open, human-centered spaces that foster community, joy, and a connection to nature. 

Their portfolio includes the world-renowned Fuji Kindergarten, a project acclaimed for its innovative, child-focused design. Tezuka Architects has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (UNESCO, 2017) and the Moriyama RAIC Prize (2017). Their influential work continues to shape contemporary architecture by embracing openness, sustainability, and the joyful spirit of everyday life.

The "Design Agency" series continues with a diverse lineup of speakers and events throughout the academic year. Mark your calendars for these upcoming presentations: 

  • October 15, 2025: Melodie Yashar, Space Architect + Technologist, at 5:00 PM in the CEIS Lobby
  • February 3, 2026: Sara Zewde, Founding Principal of Studio Zewde and Associate Professor of Practice at Harvard, GSD, at 6:30 PM in the CEIS Lobby
  • February 11, 2026: Liam Young, Designer, Director, and Program Coordinator for the MS in Fiction and Entertainment at SCI-Arc, at 5:00 PM in the CEIS Lobby
  • April 7, 2026: A film screening by Dariya Cheremisina at 4:30 PM in the Blount Auditorium

All lectures are open to the public, offering a unique opportunity for the Wentworth community and beyond to engage with leading voices in architecture and design.
