A new era for Wentworth Institute of Technology Athletics officially began this past weekend as the Leopards celebrated the opening of the new Sweeney Field with its first official contests.
Both the women's and men's soccer teams took to the new turf for their home openers during move-in week.

A Dramatic Debut Win
The Women's Soccer team christened the field in dramatic fashion, earning a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Albertus Magnus. Lily Carlson provided the heroics, scoring both goals for the Leopards. Her game-winning goal came with just 1:42 remaining in the match, securing a memorable first-ever win on the new field.

Men Battle to a Draw
The Men's Soccer team also opened their season on the new field Sunday, battling Colleges of the Fenway rival Emmanuel College. In a competitive and hard-fought defensive matchup, both teams held firm, ending the contest in a 0-0 draw.
