Programming for Women’s History Month and Women in Construction Week

Several departments at Wentworth Institute of Technology are celebrating International Women’s Day, Women in Construction Week and Women’s History Month through a host of various programs and events.  

CDSJP VIRTUAL EVENTS  

The Center for Diversity and Social Justice Programs has partnered with Wentworth Women's Council, CROWNS, NOMAS, and several offices to present several events that are open to the public. All events will be held virtually.  

NIGHT OF NATURAL HAIR 

Tuesday, March 9 @ 6:00PM  

Join WIT Crowns for a discussion on natural hair for a chance to win hair product. Crowns is a student organization for Women of Color whose goal is to uplift women in both their academic and professional endeavors, while encouraging community service and creating a safe space to speak about personal challenges. 

WOMEN'S COUNCIL WAYFINDER NIGHT

Meet the Women's Council and other student leaders while learning ways to get involved with women-centered organizations, programs and initiatives. 

WOMEN IN DESIGN 

Tuesday, March 23 @ 6:00PM 
 
Join NOMAS as they highlight work for women in architecture and designs fields. WIT NOMAS actively seeks to bring discussion to issues that strike communities in Boston by hosting events with panels of local architects, networking with local firms and schools, and hosting student conversations. 

WOMEN ATHLETES RIDDLE RACE 

Tuesday, March 23 @ 6:00PM 
 
The Women's Council invites all women athletes to a trivia night to win prizes while discussing ways to strengthen the women athletic community.  

NIGHT OF 1972 

Thursday, March 25 @ 6:00PM 
 
Named after the year women were first admitted to Wentworth, this student-led event will highlight the accomplishments and successes of current Wentworth women. The Women's Council will recognize five students during this celebration to honor the first five women who enrolled at the institute in 1972. Students can be nominated online

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK 

Women in Construction Week takes place March 7-13 and Wentworth’s Construction Management Club is hosting daily podcasts. 

Wentworth is also partnering with Rosie’s Place, AGC MA, Shawmut Construction, BWiC, PWC, Crew Boston, the National Association for Women in Construction and others on a special WIC opening ceremony presented by Shawmut at 11:00 a.m. on March 8, as well as a Career Panel at 9:00 a.m. on March 12 entitled “Pride, Purpose & Persistence: A Front Seat to the Front Liners in Construction.” 
 

WOMEN@WENTWORTH EVENT

This year's theme is “Gaining STEAM: Empowering Women for Success” as Girls Who Code founder and CEO Reshma Saujani speaks as Wentworth’s 2021 Woman of the Year.

The Wentworth Women’s Council will highlight women students during the month of March throughout their social media accounts. You can nominate yourself or someone else online. And be sure to follow @wentworthalumnioffice on Instagram as they spotlight various students during Women in Construction Week.
