Wentworth Recognized Among Mass. Colleges With Highest-Earning Graduates
Known for its hands-on, technology-centered degree programs, Wentworth Institute of Technology adds another checkmark to its list of appealing attributes for students: a rising return on investment.
According to a 2024 survey conducted by PayScale—a software company providing compensation and salary data for U.S. organizations—the university ranks among the Top 20 colleges in Massachusetts for highest earning potential for students with a bachelor’s degree. The survey, which garnered more than 3 million respondents, examined the early- and mid-career salaries of graduates.
The survey results, which were published this week in Boston Business Journal, reveal that, with students earning early-career pay of $80,800, and a mid-career salary of $138,100, Wentworth ranks at No. 15 in the state, ahead of Northeastern University, Clark University, and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
“Wentworth offers unique, hands-on learning opportunities in all of our degree programs, which allows students to gain real-world, applicable experience that guides them in preparing for successful career outcomes,” says Wentworth President Mark A. Thompson. “The survey results only emphasize that, because of our dedicated and inventive students, Wentworth’s education yields valuable career preparedness and a strong return on investment.”
While Wentworth graduates continue to earn high salaries in their careers, there are additional advantages to a Wentworth education that contribute to students’ overall ROI with a degree from the university.
According to 2025 data from Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW Georgetown)—whose “College Scorecard” ranks 4,600 colleges by ROI each year, Wentworth is named in the Top 4 percent nationally, in the category of mid-career ROI, at 20 years post-graduation. CEW Georgetown additionally notes that, at 40 years post-graduation, Wentworth graduates have an ROI of $2.7 million.
Statistically, Wentworth students consistently demonstrate strong earning potential, highlighted by:
A median salary of $71,000 for the Class of 2023, upon graduation
A 93% rate of employment or graduate school enrollment for the Class of 2023
Ninety-eight percent of 2023 graduates working in their field or major
The recent data released by PayScale and the CEW Georgetown underscores the expanding value of a Wentworth education for students.
