Wentworth Named a National Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity
Wentworth Institute of Technology has earned the prestigious title of a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE), a designation awarded by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The announcement was shared by Wentworth professor Aspen Olmsted, who highlighted the immediate benefits for students.
"I am excited to announce that Wentworth is an official Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense," said Olmsted, an Associate Professor in the School of Computing & Data Sciences. "This designation means that students pursuing our BS in Cybersecurity will have access to more opportunities, including more co-ops and scholarships."
The CAE program aims to address the nation's critical shortage of cybersecurity professionals. Earning this designation certifies that Wentworth's cybersecurity curriculum, faculty, and resources meet the rigorous standards required to develop a highly skilled workforce.
For students in Wentworth's Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program, this national recognition opens the door to exclusive federal opportunities, such as the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Scholarship Program. Graduates from a CAE institution also hold a competitive edge in the job market, as the designation validates the quality of their education to employers.
Wentworth's Cybersecurity program is known for its robust, hands-on curriculum that prepares students for complex challenges in the field. The program focuses on practical application and provides strong industry connections.
The designation of Wentworth as a CAE-CD marks a significant milestone for the university, solidifying its position as a leader in cybersecurity education and its commitment to developing the next generation of cyber defenders.
