Wentworth Engineering Honors Society Inducts Inaugural Cohort
On July 29, the Wentworth Engineering Honors Society inducted 65 students into its inaugural cohort.
The virtual induction ceremony was joined by the College of Engineering and Computer Science Dean José Sánchez, who called for students to "drive in the right direction," noting that even well-intentioned engineers are occasionally unable to mitigate all the effects of their technological progress. This message was reinforced later in the ceremony where students were challenged to not only be good engineers but to use their intelligence, training and character to make others’ lives more fulfilled and more equitable through their actions and professional endeavors.
The Wentworth Engineering Honors Society is an active group of engineering students who have proven their commitment not only to their academic pursuits, but also to their communities. Eligible students are in the top 1/5th of the seniors or top 1/8th of the juniors in engineering programs by grade point average. Additionally, students are required to submit evidence of exemplary character for acceptance. Invitations to apply are sent to students in the first few weeks of the spring and summer terms.
