VHB CEO Michael Carragher to Address School of Engineering Graduates

Michael J. Carragher, President and CEO of the engineering, science, and planning firm VHB, will deliver the keynote address to the School of Engineering graduating class at Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Summer Commencement ceremony on August 14. 

As the first non-founder president of VHB, Carragher has guided the company through a significant period of growth and technological advancement. In his eight years as CEO, he has overseen a doubling of firm revenues while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence among VHB’s 2,000 employees. 

Throughout his career, Carragher has been deeply involved in enhancing American cities by addressing complex mobility challenges, including major highway and multimodal systems in Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. During his 25 years with VHB, he founded the firm’s transit and rail practice and led its emergence as a premier integrated services consultant in key markets. 

Carragher holds leadership roles in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). He is active in numerous professional associations and previously served as Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware, his alma mater. He additionally serves on the Board of Trustees for Wentworth.  

He resides in Boston with his wife, Joan.
