Student Collaboration Shines at Prestigious New York Design Fair

An international collaboration featuring Wentworth Institute of Technology industrial design students is being showcased at one of the world's leading furniture fairs, Boutique Design New York (BDNY), on November 9–10.

The "TofuTable-Redesign" project was developed by Wentworth students alongside third-year students from Istanbul's BİLGİ Department of Industrial Design. The project was part of the ID 302 Furniture Design Studio and was conducted in partnership with the design firm Parla.

The resulting piece, the "Tofu-tilted" side table, is being recognized for its innovative design approach that skillfully blends traditional ceramic craftsmanship with contemporary industrial production techniques. The design integrates the organic forms and textural richness of ceramic details with the precision of an industrially manufactured wooden table, creating a unique piece that balances craft and innovation.

This unique design is being showcased to industry leaders at BDNY Booth No. 1473.
