Faculty and Staff Recognized in Awards Ceremony

Wentworth Institute of Technology recently held its annual Presidential Achievement Awards ceremony to recognize outstanding faculty and staff members who have made significant contributions to the institution.  

The event, held on November 19th in Watson Auditorium, celebrated the achievements of individuals who have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation, and service to the community. 

Award Winners: 

  • Service to Students: Jesse Correia, Student Support Specialist 
  • Service to Faculty: Steven Sherrin, Senior Researcher, Institutional Effectiveness and Planning 
  • Service to Staff: Stephanie Manning, Programmer/Analyst, Digital Technology Services 
  • Service to Community: Sarah Sculley, Director of International Student Services and Engagement 
  • Exemplary Customer Service: Ben Bassett, Media and Technical Support Specialist 
  • Inclusive Excellence: Catlin Wells, Executive Director of Equity and Compliance/Title IX 
  • Distinguished Student Advising: Saurav Basnet, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering 
  • Distinguished Teaching: Salem Othman, Associate Professor of Computer Science 
  • Distinguished Faculty Mentorship: Mark Mixer, Professor of Applied Mathematics 
  • Distinguished Contributions to Community: Andrew Serendinski, Assistant Professor of Sciences 
  • Distinguished Service: Ella Howard, Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences 
  • Distinguished Scholarship: Payam Bakhshi, Associate Professor of Construction Management 
  • Outstanding Adjunct Faculty: Darren Leo, Adjunct Instructor in Sciences and Aaron Weinert, Lecturer in Architecture and Interior Design 
  • Rising Star: Lauren Melfi, Assistant Professor of Applied Mathematics 

President Mark Thompson expressed his gratitude to the awardees, stating, “We all play a role in the advancement of our strategic plan, the fulfillment of our mission, and the realization of our vision. We are a community that takes our role seriously and I witness this firsthand every day. Thank you for your commitment to serving our students and supporting each other in that endeavor.” 

Executive Vice President and Provost Sophia Maggelakis added, “These individuals embody the values of Wentworth. Their contributions have had a profound impact on our students, our faculty, and our institution as a whole.”
