Architecture Student Awards

Each spring, the Department of Architecture honors graduates with awards and nominations based on academic achievement, design excellence, and community leadership.  

The Henry Adams Medal & Certificate  

The American Institute of Architects awards an engraved medal and certificate of merit to the top-ranking graduating student in each accredited school of architecture. The Henry Adams Medal is awarded for general excellence in architecture throughout the professional degree program. 

Alpha Rho Chi Medal  

The Alpha Rho Chi Medal is awarded by department faculty to a graduating student in each school of architecture who has shown a commitment to maintaining architecture and the allied arts as noble professions, and who shows the promise of strong professional achievement.  

President’s Awards for Academic Excellence & Co-curricular Involvement  

The President’s Awards honor one graduating senior (B.S.Arch) and one graduate student (M.Arch) for academic excellence and consistent involvement in co-curricular activities. Students maintain high standards of academic achievement while making outstanding contributions to the Wentworth community through involvement in athletics, student leadership and/or student organizations.  

Design Excellence Awards  

The Department of Architecture faculty honors design excellence in the work of one undergraduate senior (B.S.Arch) and one graduate student (M.Arch) from each studio in the final semester of the program.   

Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize  

The Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize biennially recognizes the most outstanding student project throughout the Americas of the North and South American continents. Department of Architecture faculty nominates a graduating student to compete for this prize. 

Archiprix Award  

Archiprix International is a biennial competition that presents the best graduation projects from schools across the globe in architecture, urban design, and landscape design. Department of Architecture faculty nominates a graduating student for this award.  

Wentworth Institute Awards 

Annual awards are held each spring and recognize outstanding achievements in academics and leadership. More than seventy students are recognized every year. For award descriptions and additional information, please visit the annual awards website.
