There is no fee to apply to ImpactLab.

Students should plan separately for personal expenses and any optional spending while in Boston.

  • Who can attend ImpactLab?

ImpactLab is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors, meaning students entering grades 11 or 12 in the fall following the program.

The program welcomes students from across the United States and around the world who are interested in exploring STEM, engineering, computing, architecture, design, and related fields through hands-on college-level experiences.

  • Can international students attend ImpactLab?

Yes. International high school students are welcome to apply to ImpactLab. Students should be entering the equivalent of grade 11 or 12 following the program.

International applicants complete the same general application process as domestic students. Students whose first language is not English, or who attend a non-English-speaking secondary school outside the United States, may also be required to provide proof of English proficiency.

More information about our international applicant requirements can be found here.

  • Do students live on campus during ImpactLab?

Yes. ImpactLab is a residential summer program, and participants live in Wentworth residence halls on our Boston campus.

Residence hall rooms are fully furnished and include a Twin XL bed, desk, desk chair, wardrobe, and Wi-Fi access. Students also have access to residence hall common spaces and other building amenities.

  • Are meals included in ImpactLab tuition?

Yes. Meals are included for ImpactLab participants throughout the program. Students eat in Wentworth's dining hall during the course of the program. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all built into the program schedule.

Families should share any dietary restrictions, food allergies, or other dining needs as part of the required onboarding forms.

  • Does your program offer financial assistance for ImpactLab?

Yes. Wentworth offers a limited number of partial tuition-assistance scholarships for ImpactLab.

Awards are based on demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, student promise, and available funding. Students must first complete the required ImpactLab admission and tuition-assistance materials and be accepted into the program to be considered.

Because funding is limited, tuition assistance cannot be guaranteed to every eligible applicant. More information about our tuition assistance policy can be found here.

  • I am interested in a few courses, what are my options?

We provide students with an opportunity to join both sessions. This means a student will choose one academic program for Session I and then switch into another program in Session II.

  • If I have a friend attending ImpactLab, could I request them as a roommate?

Our housing and roommate selection will be based on the housing survey participants will complete prior to the start of their session. If you have a friend attending ImpactLab, we need both students to indicate they would like to be roomed together. Both students in the program will need to submit the request to us at precollege@wit.edu.

  • What day should my flight/train arrive for the program and when should I plan to depart the program?

Orientation and Move-in for the programs will take place on the following dates.

    • Sunday, July 11, 2027, for Session I
    • Sunday, July 25, 2027, for Session II

  • How do students get to Wentworth from Boston Logan International Airport?

Wentworth is located in Boston and is accessible from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) by public transportation, taxi, and rideshare services.

Families interested in arranging transportation between Logan Airport and campus should contact the Pre-college Programs team before finalizing flight arrangements so that we can provide current arrival and transportation guidance. Please note our team is only able to provide out-of-state and international students attending our program with transportation to and from campus for the program.

Contact us at precollege@wit.edu with your student's travel plans or transportation questions.

  • What happens if my student gets sick during ImpactLab?

The health and safety of ImpactLab participants is a priority. If a student becomes ill during the program, Pre-college Programs staff will work with the student and communicate with their parent or guardian as appropriate. Our program has a team of dedicated nurses on-call 24/7 in the residence halls.

Depending on the nature and severity of the illness, a student may need medical evaluation, temporary separation from program activities, or arrangements to return home. Families will receive additional health, medication, emergency-contact, and program procedures before the start of the program. Additionally we will cover all details in the parent orientation during the Sunday of move-in.

  • Can students leave campus during ImpactLab?

ImpactLab is a structured residential program, and students are expected to participate in scheduled academic, recreational, and residential activities throughout their session.
Students may leave campus as part of supervised ImpactLab activities, including scheduled field trips and excursions throughout Boston. However, participants are not permitted to leave campus on their own at any time during the program.

Families may choose to opt in to the program’s sign-out process. Students using this option must be signed out by an approved individual who is at least 18 years old.
Additional information about the sign-out process, including expectations and procedures, will be shared with students and families during Sunday’s move-in and orientation program.
