Wentworth Institute of Technology is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a grant recipient by the prestigious Cummings Foundation. The grant, totaling $225,000, will be provided over a three-year period, with an annual award of $75,000. This marks the second grant awarded to Wentworth by the foundation, following a successful $100,000 grant received in 2020 through the foundation's $100K for 100 Program.

The Cummings Foundation, known for its unwavering commitment to supporting local organizations, has evolved its program over the years, allocating more funding to a greater number of deserving institutions. Wentworth's grant, amounting to $225,000, represents the highest possible award for 125 organizations with up to three-year commitments.

Wentworth’s grant will be utilized to develop a data-driven and practice-proven support system for Boston's youth. The university's commitment extends beyond traditional college-going opportunities, ensuring that the city's young individuals receive comprehensive support in their educational pursuits.

"We are deeply grateful to the Cummings Foundation for their continued support and investment in our university," said Wentworth President Mark A. Thompson. "This generous grant will enable us to further our mission of providing holistic student support, allowing Boston's youth to excel and thrive. We are committed to making a positive and lasting impact on their lives, and this funding helps us realize that vision."

The collaboration with the Cummings Foundation has been instrumental in empowering Wentworth’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational opportunities and foster the success of Boston's youth. With this recent grant, the university’s total funding from the Cummings Foundation reaches an impressive $325,000.

Wentworth’s Center for Community and Learning Partnerships (CLP), is committed to increasing college completion for local youth, by growing a new cohort of youth interested in design, engineering, computer science, and management; helping students persist in college; and supporting them through graduation from college. To help them achieve these important goals, programs exist including SummerFab for architecture, construction, engineering, and fabrication students; Beacon Pathways for dual enrollment opportunities; the pre-college bridge program, RAMP; and Industry Corps., a 20-month program that builds education-to-career opportunities for local learners that are driven by the needs of the workforce.
