  • The School of Computing & Data Science will seek accreditation from ABET after graduating our first cohort of BSIT students.

  • The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is a four-year program starts in the fall semester of the student's first year and is planned to end in the summer semester of the student's fourth year.

    Total credits for degree: 120

    This four year program, starting in the fall semester of the student's first year and planned to end in the summer semester of the student's fourth year which includes 2 required semesters of Co-op course work for a total of 10 required semesters. The degree requirements for the Bachelors of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) include 36 credits in General Education coursework, 52 credits in Foundational coursework, and  beginning in the fall semester of the junior year students must declare a  concentration comprised of 32 credits in coursework in  either Network Infrastructure (CNIN)  or Information Technology Operations and Design (CITO)

    ENGL/HSS Note

    Students are required to complete:

    • At least one course in Humanities: CSAS, HSSI, HIST, HUMN, LITR and PHIL
    • At least one course in the Social Sciences: CSAS, HSSI, COMM, ECON, ENVM, POLS, PSYC and SOCL
    • The remaining course from either the Humanities or Social Sciences category. 

    Students with a three English course sequence may use the third English course to satisfy a Humanities requirement.

    A minimum of 20 credits total, including English, humanities, and social science credit, is required to complete the humanities and social sciences graduation requirement.

    Of the listed humanities and social science electives students must include the one Directed Elective:

    • An Ethics elective

What You'll Learn

  • Year 1

    You’ll establish a foundation for your Information Technology program by taking Fundamentals of IT, Computer Science I & II, and Introduction to Networks. These courses will lay the groundwork for a comprehensive understanding to practical information technology concepts that you’ll apply in the rest of your program. 

  • Year 2

    Second year information technology students expand their knowledge with courses in Infrastructure Design, Security Principles, and Fundamentals of Information Management.  

    An optional co-op (beyond 2 required semesters) is available to students during the summer semester. 

  • Year 3

    In the fall and summer semesters of your third year, you’ll dive further into one of four desired areas of concentration: General IT, Network Infrastructure, Health Informatics, and IT Project Management. Each concentration has several electives that allow to immerse yourself in these areas. You’ll also take core program courses like Enterprise System Design. 

    In the spring, you’ll begin the first of two required co-ops. 

  • Year 4

    In the spring, you’ll go on your second required co-op to gain more hands-on industry experience. 

    The remainder of your program allows you to round out your information technology concentration through several electives depending on your focus area. You’ll work on your senior project in your final semester.
