Seyed Noorian
Bio
Hossein Noorian is a professor of Business Management at the School of Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He has 40+ years’ teaching experience at Wentworth and other major universities in Boston.
He was granted the “2014 Excellence in Teaching Award” by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) in 2014. Additionally, Prof. Noorian is the recipient of the “Gold Leopard Award” by the Wentworth Alumni Association in 2013. This is the highest award that the WIT Alumni Association can bestow to an individual. He is the recipient of the “Service to the Alumni” award by the Wentworth Alumni Association in 2007. The President's Award for Excellence in Teaching; the ""Grant Johnson Award"" in 2006. The first recipient of Charles E. Rosselie Student Adviser of the year for establishing a student investment club in 1992. The club, $tudent Investment $ociety ($I$) was also recognized as the Outstanding Student Organization of the year in 1992.
He teaches Financial Accounting (MGM-2700), Managerial Accounting (MGMT-3250), Financial Management (MGMT-3500), Engineering Economy (MGMT-3200), Entrepreneurial Finance (MGMT-3550) in the School of Management.
Prof. Noorian is very active and made numerous presentations in the areas of international business at the IACBE’s annual conferences in Indianapolis, Indiana (2025), New Orleans, Louisiana (2018) and Baltimore, Maryland (2015). Also, at the IACBE’s European Regional Conferences in Beirut, Lebanon (2019); Gdansk, Poland (2018); Prague, the Czech Republic (2017); Paris, France (2016); Maastricht, the Netherlands (2015).
Prof. Noorian has also been a frequent presenter at many of the Colleges of Fenway (COF) annual Teaching and Learning Conferences. He also made many presentations at different “Faculty Lecture Series”, Faculty Showcases, Faculty Lecture Series, and Faculty Colloquia sponsored by the Provost Office at Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Colleges of Fenway (COF).
A team of three Business Management students under the supervision of Professor Noorian was able to achieve first place in the Student Case Competition which took place at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in October 2024. This competition was sponsored by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) of first region which covers member institutions in New England. This was the first time that a team of Wentworth Students was able to win this award in the first region.
Prof. Noorian was instrumental in training and preparing his team at Suffolk University’s
Wealth Management Case Competition in 2018. This event was held in April 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts and co-sponsored by the Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management and the Wealth Management Division of Merrill Lynch Brokerage firm. Professor Noorian’s team, which consisted of one management student and two engineering students, were able to achieve first place among 21 teams (6 teams from Suffolk University along with teams from Bentley University, Boston university) which participated in that competition. Prof. Noorian’s students were able to beat the other teams by just taking one Finance and one Engineering Economy course with him. Furthermore, the members of his team were able to share the first-place cash prize of $1,000.00 among themselves.
Prof. Noorian was one of the selected judges at IACBE’s Annual Student Case Competitions in San Diego, California (2014) and Baltimore, Maryland (2015). Mr. Noorian was also a reviewer of the Journal of Excellence in Business Education (JEBE) in 2015 and 2017. Aside from that, Professor Noorian reviewed five Financial Accounting, two Managerial Accounting, one Engineering Economy and one graduate level Finance textbooks for different publishing companies in recent years. Additionally, he has been a reviewer of research papers which were presented at various annual meetings of the American Accounting Association (AAA).
