Swipe Out Hunger Meal Swipe Program
What is Swipe Out Hunger?
Swipe Out Hunger is the leading nonprofit addressing hunger among college students. Founded by a group of friends at UCLA in 2010, it has grown campus by campus into a national movement across all 50 states. To learn more about the organization, click here.
In partnership with the COF Dining Services, the Student Support Lounge at the Dean of Students Office works to collect meal swipes, donated by our students, and provide them to students who are experiencing food insecurity.
Spring Semester Program Update:
Swipe Out Hunger meal swipes are generously donated by fellow students who share unused swipes to support peers experiencing food insecurity. The ability to assign swipes each year is based on the number of donations received and the number of requests submitted.
This year, we experienced a significant increase in requests for assistance, and all available donated swipes have now been distributed. As a result, we are no longer able to accept additional meal swipe requests for the remainder of the Spring semester.
We understand that food insecurity remains a real and ongoing concern for many students. We continue to work with our partners at Sodexo to support students facing food insecurity and will launch another campaign to accept donated swipes later this semester.
In the meantime, we encourage students to explore these local and government resources and those available on our Financial Hardship website. If you believe you may meet eligibility requirements for the Student Emergency Fund, we strongly encourage you to review the criteria and submit a request for assistance.
