I’m proud to be part of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community because, like any other person from this community, I am determined, hard-working, and proud of my achievements despite being away from my family, friends and culture.

What courses do you teach?

I teach Concrete Analysis and Design, Material Testing and Quality Control, Construction Graphics, Heavy Construction Equipment, Intro to Facilities Management, Contemporary issues in Facility Management, Energy and Sustainability, Masters Capstone, and Senior Capstone.

How have your interests, research or experience led you to your field?

During my childhood, I was always fascinated by how open space turns into huge buildings. I started loving how buildings are coming into reality from nowhere. As a student, I always thrived on learning more about technologies that transform the construction industry. These technological advancements encouraged me to work on different research streams that include sustainable transportation and energy analytics for institutional infrastructures. As an educator, I firmly believe that students appreciate learning in the classroom when it can interfuse with their future careers. I am currently working on creating an interactive classroom environment using Virtual reality (VR) and Augmented reality (AR) modules for students to experience and explore reality in a virtual space.

Why I am proud to be part of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

I’m proud to be part of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community because, like any other person from this community, I am determined, hard-working, and proud of my achievements despite being away from my family, friends and culture.

Describe one exciting thing that you are working on or is happening in your classroom.

I am currently developing and teaching a new course on Advanced Construction Technology where students are learning about the latest technologies from the pre-construction phase to the post-construction phase. I am also developing several VR modules for students to experience construction sites and elevate spatial visualization techniques. I am excited to see students' reflections on these new VR-based teaching methods.

What is one interesting fact about you?

I like to travel and spend a lot of time outdoors.
