Robotics at Wentworth

Tahmid Latif, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology, specializes in robotics and bioelectronics. His work includes research on cyborg insects, insect-machine interfaces, and the development of wearable sensors. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral research scholar at North Carolina State University, focusing on the maturation of technology for physiological and environmental sensors. 

Marisha Rawlins is an assistant professor teaching Electrical and Computer Engineering. She holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology and an MSc and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida. She focuses on low-power dynamic optimizations, reconfigurable architectures, and hardware design, and brings robotics knowledge to the university. Before joining Wentworth, she served as an assistant professor and discipline coordinator at The University of Trinidad and Tobago. Her research interests encompass computer architecture optimizations, embedded systems, and innovative teaching and learning methods. She is also the faculty advisor for the Wentworth Robotics Club.

Professor Trumbour is a renowned architect and design instructor, currently holding the prestigious William E. Roberts Professorship. With a passion for robotics and additive manufacturing, he teaches a course that explores innovative materials and fabrication techniques. Trumbour has also led research projects on additive clay extrusion using a 6-axis industrial robotic arm and the development of modular carbon fiber components. Through collaborations with leading manufacturers and access to state-of-the-art tools at Autodesk Build Space, he continues to push the boundaries of architectural design and construction. 

James McCusker has taught at Wentworth since 2010, becoming an associate professor in 2016. He developed the Parameter Signature Isolation Method (PARSIM) and has published research on its applications including to turbo jet engines and injection molding simulation models. With experience at Pratt & Whitney and Brigham and Women's Hospital, he holds a PhD and an MS in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on process automation from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a BS in Electromechanical Engineering from Wentworth. He is currently involved in externally collaborative robotics projects with Logic, Teradyne, and Naval Undersea Warfare Systems. 

A professor in Mechanical Engineering, Talpasanu worked for four years in industry at Motorola as a design engineer. His research interests include micro and nano robotics for cell micro and nano manipulations, computational methods in kinematics and dynamics of machines and mechanisms, design and optimization of vehicle transmissions, and design of robotic systems.
