Saurav Basnet
Saurav Basnet is currently an assistant professor in the electrical and computer engineering program in the School of Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He received the B.S in Electrical Engineering in 2004 from Kathmandu University, Nepal and the M.S. and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas in 2007 and 2017 respectively. His graduate work focused on residential demand response program, predictive analytics, virtual storage model and optimization. He worked in the industry for about 6 years at Michael Baker International as an Electrical Engineer.
His areas of interest include smart grid development, demand response, renewable energy integration, energy storage optimization and electrical machines.

My Work
I joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in May 2019 as an Assistant Professor. I received my bachelor’s from Kathmandu University, Nepal in 2004 and MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University in 2007 and 2017 respectively.
I teach an array of graduate and undergraduate level courses in Electrical Engineering including Renewable Energy Integration, Electrical Building Systems, Intro to Renewable Energy, Power System Analysis, Signal and Systems, Analog Circuits Design, Network Theory I and II etc.
My present research interests include demand response, smart grid applications for distribution and transmission, power quality.
