Keith Zengel

Keith studies the physics of sports, games and toys, trying to understand things like: how basketballs can roll around the rim and then pop out, what bowling balls do once they’re in the gutter, and what exactly causes coasting bicycles to slow down. His other research interests include magnetic forces and induction, the history of physics, and data analysis techniques for scientists. He is co-author of the textbook, Chi-squared Data Analysis and Model Testing for Beginners.

He earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Particle Physics from Brandeis University as a member of the ATLAS Experiment, and his B.A. in Physics and Political Science from the University of Vermont.
