Wentworth believes in fair, competitive, and equitable compensation practices that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. The university’s compensation philosophy is rooted in its mission, values, and strategic priorities, as well as internal equity and external market competitiveness.

The University aims to set employee salaries and compensation packages at a level that allows them to achieve up to the midpoint or median of the salaries offered by other colleges, universities and companies in the same industry or geographic region for similar positions and levels of relevant experience in a reasonable amount of time. In essence, we are trying to be competitive with the prevailing compensation practices higher education in the northeast.

Wentworth Faculty - Compensation Disclosure

Recognition

Wentworth Institute of Technology, Inc. recognizes the Wentworth Faculty Federation, Local 2403, AFT MA, AFL-CIO (the “Faculty Federation” or “Federation”) as the exclusive bargaining representative for full-time faculty and other employees included in the bargaining unit, as determined by the National Labor Relations Board (Case No. 1-RC-12,627), with respect to wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment.

The following provides transparency regarding minimum salary levels for full-time faculty. You will find salary ranges on individual job postings. Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, and departmental needs. Full-time faculty may also be eligible for merit-based compensation.

For non-tenure track faculty, the minimum salary through contract expiration in April 2026 is as follows: 

  • Lecturer: $70,000
  • Senior Lecturer: $80,000

The collective bargaining agreement does not specify median or maximum salary ranges. Actual salaries may vary depending on discipline, experience, education, and relevant skills. Specific salary ranges for positions are included in each job posting.

Adjunct faculty compensation varies based on instructional mode (lecture or lab), number of course credits, and program. The minimum adjunct rate is $1,365 per credit. Specific pay ranges are provided in each job posting.

Wentworth Facilities Department - Compensation Disclosure

Recognition

Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ, District 615 (the “Union”) have a collective bargaining agreement covering Facilities employees. Wentworth recognizes the Union as the exclusive bargaining representative for all employees in the bargaining unit, including maintenance workers, custodians, utility workers, and licensed tradespeople at the Boston campus.

Wentworth Police Department- Compensation Disclosure

Wentworth Institute of Technology recognizes the W.I.T. Police Union, ACOPS Local 23, as the exclusive bargaining representative for full-time employees designated as police officers, excluding all other Department of Public Safety positions, student employees, and other employees, managers, and supervisors.

Step Advancement

Officers who receive at least a satisfactory rating on each essential job duty and competency in their annual evaluation advance to the next step on January 1 of each successive year, until reaching the top step.

  • The collective bargaining agreement does not set median or maximum ranges beyond the top step; actual pay progression is determined by evaluation and step schedule.
  • Detailed salary ranges and additional compensation provisions (e.g., overtime, holiday pay, longevity pay) are included in the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Employees working hours outside of the standard day shift (e.g., evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays) may be eligible for a shift differential.
