Veterans Lounge Established in Willson Hall
August 9, 2019
Wentworth has designated a special area on campus for military veterans to study and socialize.
U.S. Army Infanty Sgt. Sean Kennedy, BSME ’20, speaking at an Aug. 7 preliminary opening for the space, cited the team work that made the designation possible.
“We weren’t the first class to suggest a lounge and it is something that so many of us can benefit from,” he said. “We’re very grateful for your support and I know with President (Mark) Thompson at the helm that the future is bright for ROTC at Wentworth.”
The lounge space, located in Willson Hall, features a kitchenette, new furniture, television, and whiteboard.
Room 105 across the hall has been transformed from a traditional classroom into a space that can be reserved for veteran/ROTC events, and training and tutoring sessions.
A ribbon cutting for the lounge is scheduled for this fall.
August 18, 2019—“You are equipped with everything you need to understand and help solve the complex problems of the day and of the future,” Thompson said. “Be intentional about it. Be purposeful about it. Give the world the benefit of your full creative capabilities. It is a world that greatly needs you!”
August 14, 2019—Edie Waldsmith has been a full-time staff member while also taking classes and getting involved in as much as she could on campus. “There’s a pride I feel every day being a part of the Wentworth community," she says. "It’s easy to give back when you feel a strong connection.”
