Wentworth Institute of Technology hosted an infrastructure symposium on Nov. 7 to discuss opportunities and challenges for improving transportation and water infrastructure for the 21st century. Former governor Michael Dukakis and Massachusetts Senator Brendan Crighton led the forum.

The symposium, which carried the theme “Why Do We Fall Behind Keeping Up with the Needs of Our Infrastructure,” highlighted issues that are constantly confronted by policymakers, project managers, designers and constructors. Panelists shared perspectives on developing and executing projects that make a real difference in the quality of life.

President Mark A. Thompson provided opening remarks, while Dean of the School of Management Ilyas Bhatti moderated the event. Rick Dimino, president of A Better City, MWRA Director Fred Laskey, NHDOT Commissioner Victoria Sheehan, and MassDOT Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver took part in the panel, and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren provided pre-recorded remarks.
