The Wentworth Board of Trustees unanimously voted to extend President Mark A. Thompson’s contract for five additional years through June 2029.

Chair of the Board of Trustees Gregory B. Janey noted that President Thompson was recruited in 2019 to develop a long-term vision to evolve Wentworth to meet its full potential amid a rapidly changing higher education landscape.

Shortly upon his arrival, President Thompson led an ambitious and inclusive strategic planning process, leading efforts to develop a multi-year academic plan, charting a course for future enrollment growth, crafting a vision for the physical campus, and laying the groundwork for successful fundraising and reputational enhancement.

“The Board appreciates that President Thompson is a selfless and confident leader committed to understanding and meeting student needs. We trust him to bring the university where it deserves to go,” said Janey. “Over the next five years, we anticipate seeing a Wentworth that has even stronger partnerships with industry, is characterized by a strong campus community that is increasingly student-centric, and delivers a high-quality, practical, hands-on education to ensure our graduates are future-ready.”
