Wentworth Institute of Technology is well-poised for greatness, addressing the needs of a fast-changing society and various industries by staying true to its mission of empowering learners with the skills they need to be successful in the global marketplace. The university was founded in response to the skill gap brought about by the Industrial Revolution and things have come full circle as industry is faced today with a skill gap in a number of fields that make up the fabric of Wentworth’s academic portfolio. Our student-centered education and array of academic programs—focusing on STEM, design, and business fields along with the required co-op and hands on experience—prepare our students to respond to the current skill gap. Wentworth has been routinely recognized in national and regional rankings for its high return on investment and alumni occupational earnings power.

President Mark A. Thompson has led and guided the development of a strategic plan that builds on Wentworth’s reputation as an institution offering life-changing education and one rich with opportunity, providing a diverse community of learners with access to academic programs that are responsive to evolving market needs and prepare graduates who are future-focused and career-ready.

Our location in Boston—an academically and culturally vibrant city—offers many social and economic opportunities and benefits for our students. Our students have the chance to be taught by excellent faculty who are dedicated to their mission as educators and inspire our students to become critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and agents of positive change.

These are exciting times with enormous potential ahead. Wentworth is well positioned to further itself as a model institution for today’s times and build on its strengths, by providing outstanding instruction, experiential learning and research opportunities for our students, by building strong programs and partnerships, and by discovering new knowledge in both core areas and a wide variety of application domains. I am looking forward to being part of this exciting journey that will help us write the next chapter of Wentworth

Warm Regards,
