Future Ready: Engineering Success

It's an exciting time to be at Wentworth, especially for our School of Engineering. This past year has been one of tremendous growth and achievement, and I'm incredibly proud of the strides we've made in reimagining what engineering education can be.

We've always been known for our hands-on, practical approach. But now, we're taking it to the next level. We're not just preparing students for jobs; we're empowering them to shape the future.

What's happening in the School of Engineering that has us energized?

  • We're launching cutting-edge programs. Our new Bachelor's in Engineering-Robotics and Master's in Mechanical Engineering are designed to meet the exploding demand for skilled professionals in these fields.
  • We're investing in the student experience. Our newly enhanced Robotics Engineering Laboratory, with its Boston Dynamics Spot robot and Quanser drones and manipulator arms is just one example of how we're providing students with access to the latest technology and hands-on learning opportunities.
  • We're building powerful partnerships. Our collaborations with organizations like RoboBoston and the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) are opening doors for our students, providing them with real-world experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Additionally, the School of Engineering has signed an articulation agreement with Simmons University for five-year dual science and engineering degrees.

  • We're attracting top-tier faculty. Our faculty are not just academics; they're industry experts, researchers, and innovators who are passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of engineers. They're winning awards, publishing groundbreaking research, and inspiring our students to reach their full potential.

The results are undeniable:

  • Our students are winning competitions. From the Mass Robotics Forms and Function competition to the Airport Cooperative Research Program University Design Competition, our students are demonstrating their skills and creativity on a national stage.
  • Our alumni are making a difference. Graduates like Brenda Benaski '21, who recently received the L3Harris Technologies Innovation Award, are proving the value of a Wentworth education.
  • Our reputation is growing stronger. We've climbed more than 20 spots in the U.S. News & World Report "Undergraduate Engineering Programs (no doctorate)" rankings, a testament to the quality of our programs and the dedication of our faculty and staff.

We are well positioned, but we’re not resting on our laurels. With a new Dean's Advisory Council composed of industry leaders, we're strategically planning for the future and ensuring that our programs remain at the cutting edge of engineering education for generations to come.
