"Climate Change and the Building Sector: The Imperative to Eliminate Carbon Emissions” is free and open to the public

Wentworth Institute of Technology will host a special event on the topic of “Climate Change and the Building Sector: The Imperative to Eliminate Carbon Emissions” on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m.

The presentation will be delivered by James G. Anderson, Philip S. Weld Professor at Harvard University, and Shirine Boulos Anderson, AIA, LEED AP, Principal, Sustainable Design Leader at Ellenzweig, Architects and Planners, and adjunct faculty at Wentworth.

Both 2020 and 2021 have witnessed rapid escalation in climate-induced destruction from wildfires, severe storms, droughts, sea level rise, and water shortages that increasingly place at risk economic and societal stability.

This presentation makes a scientific case coupling irreversible changes to the climate structure with increasing levels of carbon dioxide and methane from fossil fuel use and “business as usual” modalities in the industrial, transportation, and building sectors.

James Anderson and Shirine Boulos Anderson will analyze global consequences to societal structures whether from dwindling water resources, or severe storm events and their impact on world population migration. Pathways forward are reviewed with an emphasis on the role of advancing technologies toward the elimination of carbon emissions in the building sector.

This event will be hosted via ZOOM, free and open to the public.
