We’re chatting with Wentworth Institute of Technology seniors who are set to graduate this weekend. They’re sharing, in their words, some of their fondest memories from the university and reflecting on what they’ve learned during their time here.

Follow along with our different student spotlights at wit.edu/news.

Here’s Shabrina Laksmana, Industrial Design major:

“I am an international student from Indonesia and came to Wentworth as a transfer student. I chose Wentworth because of the co-op program and hands-on learning system.

I am someone who cannot stay at a desk from nine to five. I found Industrial Design at Wentworth, which requires me to move around and is exactly what I am looking for when working on my projects.

I am part of the student ambassador team in the Admissions office, a member of the Multicultural Club, and have taken two semesters of dance projects through COF.

I have completed two co-ops. My first was with the Design Museum Foundation in Boston. I worked on 3D design and exhibition, and a typical day involved building 2D and 3D sketches for future exhibitions and conducting site visits.

My second COOP was done remotely theough LLM Design. I worked with four other teammates on what we called 'MojiMe,' a mobile app for high school students that tracks their mood and energy level during Covid-19.

Spending my four years at Wentworth makes me realize how wonderful the community is. Even though we are a small to medium sized campus, I still feel the bigger community through organizations, Colleges of the Fenway, and my friends I met within my major. I’ll always remember my first year going into my first studio class. I made a cube out of Bristol paper, and three and a half years later I am working on my senior thesis project. Time flies.

One piece of advice that I wish I had prior to beginning school is don't forget to have fun and build a system for balancing between work and off time."
