John Stephen Ellis, Professor, received a 2016-2017 Fulbright Scholar Award to support his research on the Informal City in Bénin, West Africa. His scholarship and teaching has creatively connected students with practitioners, academics, and communities worldwide. He is the author of “Shared Conviction: Isamu Noguchi and Louis I. Kahn” published by the Alvar Aalto Research Consortium on Modern Architecture (2005). His dedication to international practice, research, and teaching for over two decades has given students, the department and the Institute access to a broad network of deeply committed alums, educators and practitioners. John has an M.Des from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, an MS in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia, and a B.Arch from Pratt Institute.
