What courses do you teach OR what is your role here at Wentworth?

Supporting/Guiding Boston residents holistically

Briefly share what led you to the work you do now and why you believe it is important. (e.g. interests, research, or experiences)

From a young age, I have always been fascinated by the power of relationships between people and I make a positive impact on people's lives. This fascination, coupled with my natural curiosity, drove me to explore youth work as a teenager and eventually led me to pursue a career in higher education advocating for those that look like me. During my undergraduate studies in sociology, I had the chance to work on a research project that focused on power dynamics with groups of people. This experience opened my eyes to the tremendous potential of my voice being represented in academia. Witnessing how my driven insights could improve the obstacles that are set forth in front of marginalized individuals solidified my commitment to this field.

What is something exciting currently happening in either your professional or personal life?

I am in the process of finding a Doctorate Program to further my skills.

What is one piece of advice you have for our aspiring Black students OR students in general at Wentworth?

For aspiring Black students, it is essential to embrace your identity and be proud of your heritage. Seek out role models and mentors who have achieved success in your field of interest, as they can provide guidance, support, and inspiration. Engage with student organizations or communities that celebrate diversity and provide a platform for sharing experiences and fostering inclusivity.

Director of Student Accessibility Services and Academic Support

What courses do you teach OR what is your role here at Wentworth?

As part of the Success Studio, I support students with disabilities by providing them with accommodations, and I oversee the Academic Support tutoring services open to all students.

Briefly share what led you to the work you do now and why you believe it is important. (e.g. interests, research, or experiences)

After receiving my own disability diagnosis while an undergrad student, I worked with my university's Accessibility Services office to receive accommodations. I strongly believe that without that department's support, I would not have successfully graduated. Upon graduation, I felt that my work would be most meaningful if I supported other students through that process, knowing first-hand how valuable it was for my success. I feel very grateful to work with Wentworth's students.

What is something exciting currently happening in either your professional or personal life?

Every summer I give walking tours for the Jamaica Plain Historical Society. It's a quick ride on the T over to JP, I would love to guide Wentworth community members on one of my tours!

Feel free to express anything else you'd like to share. (recent publications, awards or achievements, personal or communal accolades)

Health Promotion and Education

Briefly share what led you to the work you do now and why you believe it is important. (e.g. interests, research, or experiences)

Education and empowerment to have informed decision making is foundational in my work and my office. I love helping people learn more about themselves, their values, and what areas of wellness they would like to find growth.

What is something exciting currently happening in either your professional or personal life?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Iceland for the summer.

What is one piece of advice you have for our aspiring Black students OR students in general at Wentworth?

Finding community is key. I became who I am today and have the confidence in myself because of my chosen family. Make sure the people who stand beside you always have your best interests at heart.
