Usernames and Passwords

This account is your username and password for most systems at Wentworth. We call this username and password your Wentworth Network Account. The username is made up of your last name, your first initial, and sometimes numerals to define individuals such as smithb or smithb2. Add "@wit.edu" to a username and you have the corresponding email address. You choose your password according to the policies below.

Password minimum requirements

  • Does not match any of your previous 6 passwords
  • Does not contain your username, first, or last name
  • Contain a character from 3 of the following 4 groups:

    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Numerals (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphabetic characters (! # % * + - : ; > ? _ ( ) ~ ^ { } | [ ] \ .)

Two-Factor Authentication

We are currently deploying two-factor authentication on employee accounts. Beginning in Fall 2019, we will offer two-factor protection for students as well. Learn more about this project.

Password recovery questions

When you log into some services, we'll prompt you to set up the password recovery service by providing a personal cell phone number or email address. Doing so will allow you to recover your password without contacting the Tech Spot, should that become necessary.

Password age policy

For security reasons, users are required to change their Wentworth Network Account password every 180 days. You may choose to change it more often if you like. When passwords are about to expire, you will receive a daily email reminder from the Tech Spot beginning 7 days prior.

Your password is yours and yours alone

Wentworth will never ask you to email us your password or complete a form to "validate" or "upgrade" your account. Fraudulent messages often pose as legitimate services you are familiar with in an attempt to trick you to act quickly and without thinking. Learn how to protect yourself from phishing scams and how to keep your password secure.
