How to Change Your Password

Enrolled Users Self Service Password Reset

If you currently know your password and wish to enroll or if you have previously enrolled in the Microsoft Self Service Password Reset please follow the instructions:  Recover Forgotten Password  

Password Reset Directions

These instructions are for changing your initial password from Admissions, HR or have been reinstated / had your password reset by the Tech Spot. If you forgot your password please contact the Tech Spot by emailing techspot@wit.edu or attempting to Recover Forgotten Password.

  1. Visit the Change Password form. If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to do so.
  2. Enter your current password and choose a new password following the minimum requirements:

    At least 8 characters long
    Does not match any of your previous 6 passwords
    Does not contain your username, first, or last name
    Contain a character from 3 of the following 4 groups
    English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    English lowercase characters (a through z)
    Numerals (0 through 9)
    Non-alphabetic characters (! # % * + - : ; > ? _ ( ) ~ ^ { } | [ ] \ .)

  3. When your password is successfully changed, you will be taken to your profile page​

Sample reasons why you might need to change your password

  • Your password is nearing 180 days old and you are required to
  • Your password has already expired and must be changed immediately
  • Someone else knows your password or you shared it accidentally
  • Good practice to change passwords regularly.
