Afsaneh Ghanavati
What courses do you teach?
I teach Motors and Controls, Power Systems Analysis, Analog Circuit Design, Network Theory I, Network Theory II, Digital Image Processing, Introduction to Engineering Design and MATLAB Programming.
How have your interests, research, or experience led you to your field?
I have always been interested in the field of engineering, especially electrical engineering.
Why are you proud to be a woman in 2021?
I'm alive—I can help and be helped, I can love and be loved, and I can celebrate the change of seasons, the rainy days and the moonlit nights. I'm proud because I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a colleague and a friend. I'm proud because I have seen many springs and have pondered about many thoughts. I'm thankful because life has given me so much!
Describe one exciting thing that is happening in your classroom.
The attentiveness and curiosity of my students bring me joy. It is always exciting to hear their profound thoughts and their creative approaches to the concepts they encounter for the first time. The classroom is a dynamic environment, which cultivates meaningful conversations between me and my students. After all, it is the congregation of ideas that fosters innovation.
What is one interesting fact about you?
In addition to the engineering field, I have deep interests in world literature.
