Purpose:
This policy is intended to provide guidance related to Wentworth Institute of Technology (university) environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) program.
Scope/Applicability:
This policy applies to all members of the Wentworth community, students, faculty, staff, and affiliates.
Legal:
Wentworth’s EH&S Program will adhere to applicable EH&S regulations and standards of care
Policy:
Wentworth is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students, employees, and the greater community and reducing our environmental impact through the implementation of an EH&S Program, which:
Defines roles and responsibilities within the EH&S Program.
Assesses the risks associated with operations performed at the university.
Implements the hierarchy of controls to prevent exposure to hazards and environmental impacts.
Complies with applicable EH&S regulations and standards of care.
Provides EH&S training.
Promotes sustainability.
Governs through committees.
Definitions:
EH&S: Environmental Health and Safety
Hazard: Any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects on something or someone.
Hierarchy of Controls: A method of identifying and ranking safeguards to protect workers from hazards.
Risk: The chance or probability that a person will be harmed or experience an adverse health effect if exposed to a hazard. It may also apply to situations with property or equipment loss.
Procedure(s):
Wentworth will/has develop written EH&S policies and procedures to assist with the implementation of an EH&S Program at the university. These documents will be developed through committees and/or working groups within the Wentworth community.
Wentworth has implemented an EH&S training program. For more information about this program, please contact the Police Department.

Interpretation & Revision:
Any questions of interpretation regarding this policy shall be referred to the Police Department. They will be the final authority regarding the interpretation of this policy.
This policy shall be reviewed every three years; however, minor changes and updates can be made at any time.
Wentworth will typically apply the policy when it receives a report about the respected policy.
Additionally, in instances where two or more policies are implicated, a case-by-case determination will be made to determine what policy will be used.
