Lyndsey Emmons
I’m proud to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community because we are a huge family of beautiful, supportive, caring people who understand resiliency in the face of adversity and are strong and empathetic towards others.

Briefly share what led you to the work you do now

I have been working in Higher Ed in a student support and well-being capacity since 2016. I think that well-being is such an important part of the college journey. I had a large circle of support when I was in college and without them, I probably wouldn't have finished as strongly as I did. Every student deserves to be advocated for and to gain access to all the resources campus (and the city of Boston) has to offer.

Describe one thing that you are working on or is happening in your area that you are excited about.

I am excited for the expansion of the student support specialists which will create space for us to work on issues facing students, such as food insecurity.

What is one interesting fact about you?

My first job was as an actor at a Renaissance Festival in Vermont.

What's one piece of advice you have for LGBTQIA+ students?

Never let anyone make you feel like you cannot be, unabashedly, yourself. There are so many people on campus who are here to celebrate you for who you are and who are willing to sit with you a listen when things get tough. You definitely aren’t alone here.
