Beautifying the Mission Hill Neighborhood

Members of Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Center for Community and Learning Partnerships (CLP) worked this week in conjunction with Mission Hill Main Streets to help spruce up Huntington and Tremont Streets this week.

Wentworth’s Courtney Wright, associate director of neighborhood relations, worked with MHMS board members, as well as Chris Dwyer, director of government and community affairs for New England Baptist Hospital, to plant flowers (pictured).

The effort reflects longstanding work Wentworth and MHMS have done together to help revitalize sections of Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. Wentworth has also been purchasing meals for MHMS volunteers each week from local businesses ahead of such projects.

MHMS is a non-profit organization that works with local businesses, residents and community organizations. With the City of Boston and the National Main Street Center, they are part of a citywide and nationwide movement.

Since 2000, Community + Learning Partnerships, better known as CLP, has been Wentworth's community engagement arm and the hub for college access + success of Boston residents. Wentworth, through CLP, started with community engagement as the core of its local impact, offering the expertise of students, faculty, and staff to support the needs of Boston residents. In 2011, Wentworth added the Boston Pipeline to CLP's repertoire, strengthening Wentworth’s founding as an institution focused on providing technical education to Boston learners.
