Wentworth's Pre-college Programs help middle school and high school students explore their passions while indulging their curiosities about Science, Technology, Engineering, Design, and Mathematics. Our programs provide high-quality enrichment opportunities for students and families—with a special emphasis on increasing interest and access for youth interested in STEM.

Sue Sontgerath (she/her)

Sue Sontgerath is the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Undergraduate Admissions. As AVP/Dean, Sue is responsible for the oversight of our undergraduate enrollment operation including admissions and pre-college programs. Sue has over 15 years of experience in informal STEM outreach programs and is committed to ensuring every student has an opportunity to explore careers in STEM.

Sue is a passionate advocate for advancing women in STEM and has several publications related to developing engineering curricula for middle school students and encouraging women in engineering. Sue holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from WPI and an M. Ed from Worcester State College.

Andreas Armenis (he/him)

Andreas Armenis is the Director of Pre-college Programs. As Director, Andreas is responsible for the development and delivery of enrollment pre-college programs including our signature program ImpactLab. In his role, he works to support the team in a variety of functional areas including marketing and communication, staffing and development, and overall summer program operations. He has served in a higher education setting in a variety of capacities, including residence life, student involvement, leadership development, and multicultural affairs.

Andreas earned a master's degree in Human Development & Family Studies with a concentration in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island and a bachelor's in International Business Management from Bryant University. He is a dedicated developmentalist committed to the growth and advancement of outreach initiatives for K-12 students interested in STEM with a strong focus on equity and inclusion. 

Loretta Stephens-Smith (she/her)

Loretta Stephens-Smith is the Associate Director of Pre-college Programs. As Associate Director, Loretta supports the development and implementation of Wentworth pre-college programs and K-12 outreach. Loretta's role includes supporting marketing and communications, staff training and development for graduate and undergraduate staff,  and cultivating campus partnerships within the university and surrounding community. Starting out in Enrollment Operations, Loretta is transitioning to more of student affairs focus in her higher education career. 

Loretta earned a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Northeastern University, where she is currently working on her master's in Higher Education Administration. With more student-focused work, Loretta is thrilled to influence, encourage and support students as they embark on their college journey.

Caitlin Hughes (she/her)

Caitlin Hughes is the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions. As Assistant Director, Caitlin is responsible for managing a recruitment territory in MA (Western MA & Essex County), CO, OH, PA, upstate NY, TX, OK, and WV. Her role includes supporting prospective students through the application process starting at the pre-collegiate level and throughout their journey to enrollment. Caitlin is a member of the pre-college team and advises the STEM Ambassadors. This is a STEM outreach group that engage middle school and early high school students interested in science, engineering, and design through hands-on activities and presentations both on and off campus.  

Caitlin earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from Westfield State University where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice & Psychology.

Rubi Chavez was born and raised in the Southside of Chicago. She is a first year masters student focusing in Higher Education & Student Affairs at Northern Illinois University (NIU). She received her baccalaureate degree in Sociology with a minor in Counseling at NIU. She loves to spend her time being outside and trying new things, especially food. She is a city girl at heart and excited to see what Boston has to offer.

Gian Fabian is a graduate student at Messiah University (Mechanicsburg, PA) hoping to achieve my MA in Higher Education Leadership. Gian is the oldest of four children, and a first-generation college student and first-generation Dominican-American. Gian works two jobs, one on-campus and another off-campus, alongside playing rugby for the local men's team in his area. In his spare time, he loves to go to the gym, play the guitar, play video games, and listen to podcasts. Gian's end goal after graduating is to serve at an institution that strongly values the well-being of its students and helps those in their community thrive to be the best they can be.

Celia is originally from Cumberland, RI, and is currently a graduate student at the University of Rhode Island's College Student Personnel Program. Celia is pursuing higher education because she believes in supporting the holistic student. She is looking forward to working with the Pre-college team at Wentworth Institute of Technology in order to develop her skills as a leader and gain experience in Pre-Admissions Programs. She is originally from Cumberland, RI, and in her free time enjoys crocheting and watching movies!
