Planned Service Windows

To maintain a high level of service reliability, planned maintenance of our services is required. To minimize the disruption to the community, we make every attempt to utilize the published windows below. You can see all service status and planned maintenance on our Service Status Page as well as subscribe for email or text message updates.

Weekly Maintenance Windows (Short outages, low-moderate risk changes)

  • Wednesdays 8pm-12 midnight for outages not impacting students, faculty, academic operations, or the library.

  • Fridays 10pm-2am (database server outages only after 12 midnight) for outages impacting students, faculty, academic operations, or the library.

  • Tuesdays 3am-7am for infrastructure outages only. (This includes Skype for Business communication and email services)

Monthly Maintenance Window (Outages expected to last more than 4 hours, high-risk changes)

  • One Sunday each month, if needed, 7am-7pm (will be chosen on a Sunday that is the least impacting for the group(s) affected)

Irregular Windows (Planned and Unplanned)

  • Unplanned outages may only be utilized for emergency work where a system or service is non-operational and is impacting one of the Institute’s critical academic/administrative functions. 

  • Planned outages that are associated with a project. These are mainly used during the summer and must be communicated to the affected segments of the community at least 4 weeks prior to the change
