Alcohol and Drug Sanctions
The Office of Wellness Education offers the following educational sanctions:
- ADAPT Alcohol Education Class and follow-up reflection essay
- Drug Education Class and follow-up individual session
- Alcohol or Drug BASICS (2 one-on-one sessions)
- Mandated Alcohol and Drug Assessment
- Alcohol or Drug Self Assessment
Instructions for each sanction are below. Be sure you know which sanction you have before booking your class or meeting.
The ADAPT class is a 90-minute alcohol education class covering the history of alcohol and the culture of drinking, the effects of alcohol on the body, negative consequences of alcohol, and strategies for drinking responsibly. Students must write a 1000-word reflection essay in order to complete the sanction. Students have said the following about the ADAPT class: “Although the ADAPT class was not something I was looking forward to in the beginning I was actually really glad I got the chance to go. There was a lot of really good information that I learned and found interesting" and "I was expecting to be scolded for my negative behavior but instead I left with a whole new understanding of how alcohol works."

Drug Education Class
This 90-minute class covers information about marijuana and other drugs, drug laws and policies, and personal decision-making. Students must schedule a follow-up individual session with the instructor to complete the sanction.
Please register for the class that best fits your schedule by clicking on the Drug Edu class of your choice and filling out the registration form. You can schedule your follow up session in person at the end of the class, orschedule it online.

Alcohol or Drug BASICS
BASICS sanction is comprised of 2 motivational interviewing sessions designed to help students reflect on their goals and devise strategies to prevent alcohol and other drugs from becoming an obstacle to success. Students should sign up for the first session only using the online scheduler (instructions below). The second session will be scheduled in person when you meet with Leah or Joy.
You must bring your laptop to your first BASICS meeting.
All BASICS meetings take place in the Center for Wellness and Disability Services, Watson 003.
Mandated Alcohol and Drug Assessment
The Mandated Assessment is a one-hour meeting designed to help students reflect on their goals and devise strategies to prevent alcohol and other drugs from becoming an obstacle to success. Students with this sanction may be required to attend up to 4 meetings.
All Mandated Assessment meetings take place in the Center for Wellness and Disability Services, Watson 003.
