Orientation Leaders (OLs) serve as role models and mentors to new students during New Student Orientation (NSO). This includes creating a fun and engaging experience for students to learn about Wentworth culture and begin the transition to college.
- Attend mandatory training sessions:
- *February 28th full-staff Training, 6pm – 8pm
- *March 21st full-staff Training, 6pm – 8pm
- *June 12th – 16th NSO Training
- *Be available to work New Student Orientation: June 17th – June 27th, 2017
- Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, families, faculty and staff throughout check-in, orientation sessions, and activities during Orientation.
- Ensure active participation of assigned group. This may involve talking with students one-on-one who appear disengaged or act inappropriately.
- Acquaint new students with campus services through group meetings and discussions.
- Conduct icebreakers and other get-to-know you activities with new students.
- Facilitate small group conversations related to Wentworth policies and procedures, wellness, diversity, involvement, and additional transition issues.
- Assume responsibility for the safety of an assigned group of students, by continually taking attendance and reporting policy violations immediately to a Professional staff member.
- Staff 1 of 2 Accepted Student Days in March.
- Keep in contact with the Center for Student Engagement professional staff; make sure to respond to all email within 3 days unless otherwise directed.
- Remain a role model to new students throughout Orientation and beyond.
- Enroll in and satisfactorily complete the Wentworth Leadership Institute Phase I education course or Phase II if Phase I requirement has already been met, by June 1st, 2017.
- Enroll in and satisfactorily complete WIThero: Creating a Proactive Community or WIThero: Standing Against Sexual Assault if Creating a Proactive Community requirement has been met, by June 1st, 2017.
- Complete all other duties as assigned
- Stipend in the value of $1,225
- Valuable Leadership experience, facilitation skills, and pride in helping new students transition to college.
- Wentworth Center for Student Engagement apparel, novelties and giveaways.
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at time of hire and throughout duration of position.
- Current Wentworth Student in good academic and disciplinary standing throughout duration of position.
- Possess an openness to diversity and sensitive issues, strong organization and time management skills, professionalism.
