I am privileged to welcome you to Wentworth Institute of Technology. A leader in engineering, technology, design, and management education, Wentworth provides the technical skills and professional knowledge students need to become leaders in rewarding and successful careers—and moreover, engaged citizens. Our talented and engaged faculty—who bring extensive industry experience—and staff provide high-quality learning opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of industry. Our hands-on, practical education prepares our students to hit the ground running when they enter the workforce.
It is an exciting time to be at Wentworth. Recent campus enhancements include the Center for Sciences and Biomedical Engineering—featuring 11 state-of-the-art laboratories—, which is utilized by all students as part of their science education. The Flanagan Campus Center, which opened in 2012, is the hub of student activities, providing modern amenities such as a fitness center and dining facilities.
In 2015, we opened the Apartments @ 525 Huntington Avenue, providing apartment-style living for juniors and seniors. Our “High-Tech Highway”—a collection of cutting-edge laboratories and classrooms running through the ground floor of Wentworth, Williston, and Dobbs Halls, also opened in 2015.
On the academic side, Wentworth recently launched new undergraduate and graduate programs to address the interests of students and needs of industry. Identifying and creating new opportunities for learning at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and for lifelong learners, is an important strategic focus. We create such opportunities by adding new undergraduate majors and graduate programs, encouraging collaboration across disciplines, and revamping delivery methods for classes (i.e. classroom instruction, online learning, or a hybrid model).
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about what makes Wentworth such a special place Please visit our campus to experience firsthand what our current students and 36,000 alumni have experienced over the past 100 years of Wentworth’s history.
Welcome and I hope to see you on campus.
