Presidential Transition Update October 4, 2018
Brief Update on Presidential Search Process
Dear Members of the Wentworth Community:
On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, I am delighted to announce that we have engaged the executive search firm of Russell Reynolds Associates to serve as the committee’s partner during the presidential search process.
As you may recall, over the summer, the Presidential Transition Committee solicited ten proposals from executive search firms to engage in the presidential search. The Transition Committee evaluated the ten submitted proposals and identified four finalist search firm proposals for the Search Committee’s review and evaluation. The Search Committee interviewed these four finalist firms on September 5 and evaluated which firm would be the best match for the committee. The Search Committee decided to select Russell Reynolds Associates, an international executive search firm serving many industries that includes a well-established higher education executive search practice. The Russell Reynolds team that will be working with the Search Committee includes Anne Coyle, Jett Pihakis, and Meredith Rosenberg.
The Search Committee met with the Russell Reynolds team for its first meeting with the firm on September 24 and began planning for its work on the presidential search. As a first step, the committee began planning for the next stage of the process, which will include listening sessions with members of the Wentworth community. The purpose of these listening sessions will be to solicit your input on attributes and qualifications desired in the next president. Additionally, the Russell Reynolds team will be administering a survey directed to all Wentworth stakeholders that will allow the firm to collect valuable input from community members about desired qualities in selecting the next president. Both input from the listening sessions and the survey will assist the Presidential Search Committee in developing the Presidential Position Profile, which will be used in identifying presidential candidates.
The Russell Reynolds team will be facilitating listening sessions with Wentworth’s stakeholders on Tuesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 18 through focused group and open forum sessions. Shortly, you will receive information about the times and locations for your respective stakeholder group meetings. I encourage you to participate in these listening sessions, if you are able, and to participate in the survey as well. We greatly value everyone’s input in this important presidential search process.
Gregory B. Janey, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee
