ASHRAE recognizes mechanical engineering student
Mechanical engineering sophomore Richard Melo received a scholarship from American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the building technology society, for $10,000 for the 2013-2014 academic year. The Reuben Trane scholarship was presented during the April ASHRAE Boston chapter meeting. Melo worked for more than 10 years as a union sheet metal worker before deciding to return to college full time. By working to complete his degree, he's looking forward to transitioning "from installing HVAC to designing it," he said.
